St George’s Day holds a unique place in our hearts as Scouts. Baden-Powell, our founder, chose St George to be our patron saint, recognizing him as a symbol of courage, selflessness, and duty—values that align with the core of Scouting.
8th Macclesfield have been invited to join St. George’s Day in Poynton on Sunday April 27th 2025 where everyone will be renewing their vows in the king’s name.
We are asking all members from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to join the fun as we walk through Poynton Town Centre to the Civic Centre, carrying model camp-fires they have made, and singing our favourite campfire songs. It’s going to be loud, proud and will put Scouting front and centre in our community!
- Please drop off at Poynton High School at 13:50
- Everyone will will start at 14:00
- Renew vows inside civic centre +-14:30
- Charity Tuck shop outside the civic centre
- Please bring £1 or £2 change for charity tuck shop
- Collect you child at 14:45 from the Tuck Shop stall
- Adults and children are invited to join the campfire afterparty from 1500-1600 at 1st Poynton
- No parking on school property is allowed and we ask to not park on the verges outside the school. There should be enough parking spaces around the centre and side streets, with a short walk to the start and finish destinations. Enjoy the Civic centre while we progress our last half mile!
All participants must be wearing high vis and ready to sing very loudly!
Parent helpers are welcome to join, please let your leader know that you would like to join. We have limited space left.
